Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum Welcomes CBRE for a Retail Renaissance: Marking a significant development since its acquisition by Eurofund Group and Signal Capital Partners earlier this year, the Rhein-Ruhr-Centre is set to undergo a transformative journey. The esteemed CBRE Retail Consulting division, previously known as Prime Consulting GmbH, is slated to assume the mantle of management and marketing for the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum (RRZ) in Mülheim from early 2024. CBRE, a global leader in commercial real estate services and investment, envisions shaping the RRZ into an immersive “shopping resort” experience.
Headquartered in Düsseldorf, CBRE Retail Consulting boasts over 30 years of specialized experience in leasing, consulting, and managing shopping centers and retail parks. The acquisition of Prime Consulting from CEO and owner Alastair Green underscores CBRE’s commitment to expanding its influence in the German retail sector.
Building on their successful collaborations on projects like Puerto Venecia in Spain and UBBO in Portugal, Eurofund Group and CBRE aim to introduce the ‘Shopping Resort’ concept to Germany with the Rhein-Ruhr Zentrum. This concept promises an amalgamation of premier retail, inviting public spaces, and family-centric leisure activities.
Ian Sandford, President of Eurofund Group, expressed confidence in CBRE as a strategic partner, stating, “CBRE is poised to support us in realizing our vision of transforming the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum in Mülheim into a regionally significant and innovative district center.”

Situated in the Rhine-Ruhr region, one of Germany’s largest metropolitan areas with over ten million inhabitants, the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum has been a focal point for the past 50 years. With an extended commitment from anchor tenant CinemaxX and ongoing negotiations with new tenants, the shopping center is poised for a reinvigorated future under the expertise of CBRE, Eurofund, and Signal. The collaboration aims to strengthen existing tenant relationships while attracting new partners, creating an enticing fusion of retail, dining, and leisure options.
