SHASHOU
Egyptian rising star Youssef Omar is set to appear in SHASHOU, a British-Chinese action thriller directed by Bizhan Tong. The young actor, who recently garnered attention during the Ramadan TV season with several notable performances, will share the screen with American actress Debby Ryan, known for her work on Disney Channel and Netflix’s Insatiable. More cast announcements from around the globe are expected shortly.
SHASHOU explores the dangerous underworld of former elite soldiers. The story centers around three unlikely allies—Kelly Frost, Rachel Chan, and Inferno—who must join forces to foil a billionaire’s plan to throw Hong Kong into chaos. As hidden agendas and betrayals unfold, trust becomes their most valuable weapon, all while the enigmatic figures known as “Shashou” lurk in the background.
Bizhan Tong, founder and CEO of Phoenix Waters Productions, is at the helm of this ambitious project as both director and producer. Known for his international vision and high-concept storytelling, Tong is joined by producers Charlie Wong (Warriors of Future), Michael Chuah (Firefly), Yu-Fai Suen (The Eye), and Raimund Berens (Siege on Liperti Street).
Youssef Omar has been making waves in Egyptian television and cinema since his breakout role in Rahim (2018). He further solidified his place in the industry with standout roles in shows like Setat Beit Al-Maadi, where he played the unforgettable Timo El-Badry. His film career includes commercial successes such as Awlad Hareem Kareem and El Hareefa, and his performance in Meen Yesadaq, presented at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival, highlighted his growing international appeal.
With SHASHOU, Omar steps into a new chapter, bringing his talent to an international audience and expanding his reach beyond the Middle East.
