Antonini Group Secures a Robust US$217 Million EPCIC Contract for Sabratha Platform Compression Module Project

Sabratha, Libya – September 19, 2023 – Antonini Group, a prominent player in the global Oil & Gas industry with over 70 years of experience in providing engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) services for large platforms in offshore and onshore projects, has successfully secured a lucrative US$217 million contract. This contract pertains to the Sabratha Platform Compression Module Project, a gas compression module destined for installation in Libyan waters, positioned 42 meters above sea level, atop the existing Sabratha gas platform.

Antonini Group was awarded this substantial contract following a competitive bidding process initiated by MELLITAH OIL&GAS B.V. The Sabratha Platform Compression Module Project entails the erection of a gas compression module, specially constructed for the Mellitah Oil&Gas Company. This module will be situated 120 kilometers off the Libyan coast, elevated 42 meters above sea level, on an existing gas platform.

Throughout the approximately 27-month construction phase of the project, Antonini Group will employ a Floatel floating structure to accommodate the 150 personnel involved in the installation and commissioning stages. All engineering, procurement, and construction activities related to the Sabratha Hotel module will be executed by Italian operators within Italy, while installation operations will be carried out at the offshore Libyan location.

Commenting on this significant milestone, Simone Antonini, CEO of Antonini Group, expressed his satisfaction: “We’re delighted to have secured this order for such a pivotal project, endorsed by both the Italian government and ENI CEO Claudio De Scalzi, within an industry of strategic importance for Italy.

Following ENI’s initial project announcement, our company decided to invest in this market segment and participate in major international tenders. This has resulted in significant engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contracts in Africa and the Middle East, prompting us to establish a branch in Tripoli. Before the Sabratha project, we had already inked an initial US$18.6 million contract, slated for completion next summer, for the construction of templates aimed at expediting drilling operations in the field, where a new platform will subsequently be installed to transport the gas produced to Sabratha.”

This triumph adds to a series of other major contracts currently in progress, amounting to a total value of approximately US$200 million. Among them, Antonini Group is providing EPCI services for an MRU module and four vessels intended for the Tamar natural gas exploration and production platform situated about 80 kilometers off Haifa, Israel. In Africa, the company has played a pivotal role in the construction and installation of the six-leg WHP2 platform and associated systems for the Nenè offshore field in Congo.

Moreover, in the shallow waters of Litchendjili, Antonini Group is engaged in the modification and integration of recently commissioned offshore hydrocarbon gas platforms. Additionally, in deeper offshore locations, the company has provided EPC services for 17 mooring piles and an aegypoide pile, serving a floating liquefied natural gas production unit boasting a capacity of 2.4 million tonnes annually.

Angola also represents a crucial market for Antonini Group, where the company is currently executing an order to deliver EPC services for an entire offshore platform named Maboqueiro, alongside associated pipelines for the exploitation of the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields. Production in this region is set to commence in 2026, with an estimated capacity of 330 million cubic feet per day, equating to approximately 4 billion cubic meters annually.

In 2019, Antonini Group established Antonini Navi in partnership with Aldo Manna, based in La Spezia. Leveraging the Group’s extensive experience and technological expertise, Antonini Navi specializes in the construction of fully customized yachts, naval, and military units within the yachting sector.
