Kuwait Minister of Commerce and Industry Advocates for Digital Economy Accommodation

Kuwait City, October 26, 2023 – The Kuwaiti Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Al-Aiban, has reaffirmed the importance of establishing a solid infrastructure capable of accommodating the rapidly growing digital economy and effectively addressing the challenges it presents. Minister Al-Aiban, who also holds the position of State Minister for Youth Affairs, made these remarks during the recent Commerce Ministers conference that brought together representatives from Gulf Countries and China in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.

In a statement released by the Ministry, Minister Al-Aiban emphasized the critical role that a robust infrastructure plays in enabling the digital economy to flourish. With the global economy undergoing a significant transformation towards digitalization, the need for adaptable and forward-thinking infrastructure has never been more pressing.

Minister Al-Aiban’s call to action reflects Kuwait’s commitment to staying at the forefront of the digital age, acknowledging the potential economic and social benefits it can bring. As both the Minister of Commerce and Industry and the State Minister for Youth Affairs, his vision encompasses not only economic prosperity but also youth empowerment and inclusion in this digital transition.

The Commerce Ministers conference provided a platform for leaders and policymakers to exchange ideas and strategies for harnessing the digital economy’s potential. As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties and collaboration, the meeting with Chinese counterparts in Guangzhou marked a significant step forward in enhancing cooperation between Gulf Countries and China.

Kuwait’s focus on accommodating the digital economy demonstrates its determination to evolve and thrive in an increasingly digital world. The commitment to building the necessary infrastructure and adapting to the challenges of the digital age is a testament to the nation’s forward-looking approach and its recognition of the transformative power of technology. As Kuwait continues its journey toward digital transformation, the world will undoubtedly be watching its progress with great interest.
