Enhancing Values of Tolerance and Peace: A Collaborative Effort in Tajikistan
Dushanbe, October 20 – In a significant step towards fostering tolerance and peace in Asia and the world, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, signed a cooperation agreement with His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Tahir Zokirzoda, Speaker of the Tajikistan Parliament. The agreement, inked at the Parliament’s headquarters in the capital city of Dushanbe, aims to promote and frame joint efforts in the realms of tolerance and peace.
President Zokirzoda commended the Council’s endeavors in advancing the values of tolerance and peace, reaffirming his country’s parliamentary support for the Council and its objectives.
The agreement encompasses the appointment of a member from the Tajikistan Parliament to the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, enhancing parliamentary cooperation on tolerance and peace issues, and organizing joint parliamentary sessions and conferences.
In a related context, His Excellency Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dushanbe. The two parties discussed avenues for enhancing cooperation and joint efforts in the fields of tolerance and peace in the region and the world.
Al Jarwan provided the Tajikistani Minister with an overview of the Council, its objectives, and its efforts in promoting tolerance and peace worldwide. In response, Minister Muhriddin lauded the Council and its exceptional efforts, expressing his country’s support for the Council and its mission, emphasizing the world’s urgent need to bolster the values of tolerance and peace.
The Tajikistan Minister and Al Jarwan agreed to work on establishing a regional office for the Council in Dushanbe.
Minister Muhriddin also commended the strong relations between Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates, applauding the UAE’s efforts in supporting the dissemination of tolerance, peace, and love, as well as promoting sustainable development. He highlighted the significance of the UAE’s hosting of “COP28,” expressing his confidence in the success of this crucial international event.
As part of the Council’s efforts to enhance collaboration with universities and educational institutions, Dr. Khushvakhtzoda Kobiljon, the President of the National University of Tajikistan, welcomed His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan at the university’s headquarters in Dushanbe.
The two parties discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and joint work to promote the values of tolerance and peace in the academic field. They agreed to consider signing a memorandum of understanding through which the National University of Tajikistan will offer a master’s program in Tolerance and Peace, developed by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace. Additionally, they will collaborate in hosting scientific conferences and diverse cultural competitions that further cultivate a culture of tolerance and peace.
