The sale of AS Monaco remains a subject of speculation, but there is a scenario in which Luis Campos could return to the Principality club — this time as its president.
Earlier this year, Dmitry Rybolovlev, owner of ASM, indicated through a statement from his family office, as reported by Get French Football News, that he had “decided to initiate a process to explore strategic options for its shares in the Club after receiving unsolicited interest.” The Raine Group has been enlisted as the financial advisor for this ongoing process, and currently, multiple offers are being considered for the club.
Against the backdrop of recent diplomatic and economic developments, there has been a warming of relations between Saudi Arabia and Monaco. Consequently, the Princely Palace views Saudi interest in the club positively. Should Rybolovlev decide to sell Monaco and should Saudi Arabia acquire the club, reports from L’Équipe, corroborated by Get French Football News, suggest that their intention would be to appoint Luis Campos as the club’s president. Campos, who previously served as sporting director at ASM before his departure in 2016, maintains strong ties with the Principality, often returning for visits.
