Transportation Minister receives APM Terminals CEO

Manama, Bahrain – Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, recently hosted an important meeting with Matthew Luckhurst, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of APM Terminals. The gathering served as an opportunity to discuss significant developments in the maritime freight industry, particularly concerning the Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP), and to explore avenues for optimizing logistical operations.

During the meeting, the two leaders delved into APM Terminals’ forward-looking plans aimed at bolstering maritime freight activities at the bustling Khalifa Bin Salman Port. The port, strategically located in the heart of Bahrain, plays a pivotal role in the region’s trade and commerce, making its efficient operation and expansion of utmost importance. Enhancing the capacity and efficiency of KBSP is a key priority for both the Bahraini government and APM Terminals, as it not only facilitates global trade but also strengthens Bahrain’s position as a maritime and logistics hub.

Discussions during the meeting also revolved around innovative approaches and strategies to enhance the overall management and logistics operations at the port. The efficient handling of cargo, streamlined processes, and improved infrastructure are crucial elements in ensuring the seamless flow of goods and services in and out of KBSP. It was emphasized that modernizing and optimizing these aspects would not only benefit APM Terminals but also contribute to Bahrain’s broader economic goals.

Minister Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts between the government and APM Terminals, recognizing the importance of the private sector’s involvement in realizing the country’s transportation and trade objectives. He further highlighted that such partnerships serve as a testament to Bahrain’s commitment to fostering economic growth and prosperity.

Matthew Luckhurst, CEO of APM Terminals, reiterated the company’s dedication to playing a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of KBSP. He emphasized the importance of continually exploring innovative strategies to drive efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance the customer experience. APM Terminals’ global expertise in port operations and logistics is expected to bring significant value to the expansion and optimization efforts at KBSP.

The meeting between Minister Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi and Matthew Luckhurst signifies the strong collaboration between the public and private sectors in Bahrain, as both parties work hand in hand to ensure that Khalifa Bin Salman Port remains a prominent gateway for international trade in the region. This strategic partnership reflects Bahrain’s commitment to economic diversification and its goal to become a significant logistics and transportation hub in the Middle East.

As discussions progress and plans are implemented, the future of Khalifa Bin Salman Port looks promising, promising improved maritime freight operations, more efficient logistics, and increased contributions to Bahrain’s economic growth.
