Unveiling of the Moteur! Competition at the National Theatre of Nice on February 28th, Last night, on February 28th, the National Theatre of Nice hosted a captivating event dedicated to the Moteur! Competition. It was an evening filled with inspiration and talent, showcasing the creative endeavors of young individuals from the PACA region.
Moteur! is a project committed to fostering equal opportunities for youth. Since its inception in 2017, it has aimed to ignite a sense of progress and self-assurance among young people by facilitating encounters with inspirational figures and encouraging them to envision their futures.
The heart of the project lies in an annual competition inviting participants aged 14 to 22 to produce a 1-minute film about someone who has had a significant impact on their lives. By expressing gratitude towards their mentors and celebrating the strength of human connections, participants take significant strides towards building confidence and self-identity.
The 8th edition of the Moteur! Competition, chaired by Jonathan Cohen, is currently open for submissions until April 1st, 2024.
A Campus of Confidence, typically reserved for winners of the Moteur! Competition, was established for youth from the PACA region. This unique initiative, held from February 26th to 29th, 2024, welcomed fourteen young participants from the region who had taken part in the 2023 Moteur! Competition.
Hosted at the National Theatre of Nice under the direction of Muriel Mayette-Holtz, the Campus of Confidence provided a platform for participants to engage in workshops on slam poetry, physical expression, and theater. The program also featured cultural outings and an exploration of the local carnival. Throughout their stay, the youth were guided in the art of slam poetry by Jacky Ido, a renowned actor, director, and slam poet. They also had the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of the TNN theater troupe and meet Emma Clair Dumont, the 13th Frenchwoman to conquer Mount Everest.
Upon the conclusion of the 8th edition of the Competition, 25 laureates will have the honor of attending the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. There, they will receive the prestigious Moteur! Golden Clap from Thierry Frémaux, the Festival’s General Delegate, and participate in an official screening of the 77th edition. Additionally, their portraits will be showcased in XXL format at the Cannes Train Station.
The evening of February 28th saw the National Theatre of Nice transformed into a hub of creativity and celebration. The event featured presentations by the Moteur! team, speeches from esteemed partners such as Ragni and the City of Nice, screenings of films by young Moteur! participants, and a grand showcase of slam poetry performed by the talented youth from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, led by Jacky Ido.
In attendance were the youth themselves, Muriel Mayette-Holtz, the director of TNN, and Caroline Sénéclauze, the president of Moteur!.
